As you prepare to begin a residential care facility for the elderly, find time to visit other care homes, hospice facilities and hospitals to see the nature of the business. You will need to check with your city for the requirements for starting a home care. Before i started i visited my friends home and met a couple of the clients who were in their 80's but were full of life and still able to do quite a few things on their own. There will be some classes you will have to take to get your certificate from the city or state, yes you do need to take CPR and the like but trust me in less than two weeks you can have this done. You will need to find a facility (a home) where you want to start, we started with our home and quite frankly this saved us from foreclosure! Moving from one client to the maximum six depends on how aggressive you are and the kind of care you provide. It is quite simple but it may feel overwhelming but remember these are human beings that just need a home and people to take care of them. As with anything in life it always seems impossible at first but trust me you never want to say i wish i did.
